Multilingual Sentiment Comes to the Comment Word Cloud
What's New
The word cloud on your analytics dashboard now interprets sentiment in every language we support, shows cleaner words, and no longer encounters errors on the "All Time" view.
Sentiment in Every Language
Until now, the word cloud only recognized sentiment in English. Comments written in other languages still appeared, but they were treated as neutral, so the colors only reflected your English-speaking readers.
Now the word cloud interprets sentiment in every language FastComments supports - Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Turkish, Russian, and more. A glowing review in Spanish now appears green, and a complaint in German appears red, just like it always has in English. If your community comments in more than one language, the word cloud finally operates as you'd expect.
We also taught it to understand languages that don't use spaces between words, like Chinese and Japanese, so their most common words and the feelings behind them now appear correctly too.
Cleaner Words
We improved how words are extracted from comments. Previously, comments that contained formatting or images could occasionally introduce small bits of markup into the cloud as if they were words. The word cloud now displays only real words from your readers.
A Fix for "All Time"
Switching the dashboard date range to All Time could cause the word cloud to fail to load. That's resolved - All Time now functions just like the Last 30 Days and Last 12 Months views.
In Conclusion
Whether your community comments in one language or a dozen, the word cloud now provides an accurate, at-a-glance insight into what people are discussing and how they feel about it.
